Điện Biên ready to welcome tourists

ĐBP - As the holiday season approaches, the atmosphere at tourist destinations across Điện Biên is becoming increasingly vibrant. From the historic sites of heroic victories to eco-tourism destinations, preparations are in full swing with the goal of providing the best possible service as visitor numbers are expected to surge. Điện Biên tourism is ready to welcome visitors to explore and experience this land of rich history and culture.

The upcoming holiday period, marking the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - 2025), the 139th International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - 2025), and especially the 71st anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory (May 7, 1954 - 2025), features extended time off, creating favorable conditions for travel and tourism. Therefore, the number of visitors to Điện Biên is expected to rise significantly compared to other times of the year. To ensure the best service for tourists, heritage site management units and tourism businesses across the province have implemented specific plans.

The provincial Monument Management Board’s employees maintain outdoor artifacts.

The provincial Monument Management Board, responsible for many important historical sites, has proactively developed plans to warmly welcome visitors during the holiday. Phạm Thanh Thảo, Deputy Director of the provincial Monument Management Board, shared: “We have mobilized all staff to ensure that all historical sites are open to visitors throughout the holidays, including evening hours at A1 Hill. Special attention has been given to guiding and interpreting services at the sites, increasing both in quantity and quality to meet the needs of tourists. Ticketing and entrance fee collection are strictly organized in accordance with regulations, ensuring transparency.”

At spiritual sites such as the Veterans’ Cultural Center (E2 Hill site), the Memorial to General Võ Nguyên Giáp (Mường Phăng Campaign Headquarters), and the Shrine for the Martyrs of the Điện Biên Phủ Battlefield (F Hill), preparations have been urgently carried out. Ms. Thảo added: “We have mobilized teams to clean, maintain landscaping, prepare offerings, and organize solemn ceremonies for people and tourists to pay tribute to President Hồ Chí Minh, General Võ Nguyên Giáp, and fallen heroes.”

Security, order, and environmental sanitation are top priorities for the provincial Monument Management Board. Regular activities include clearing vegetation, collecting waste, and enhancing the landscape, aiming for a “green - clean - beautiful” environment. The board closely coordinates with local police forces, Điện Biên-based Infantry Regiment 82 (Division 355, Military Region 2), and local schools to patrol and maintain security and organize environmental clean-up drives.

At the Điện Biên Phủ Victory Museum, where many valuable artifacts are displayed, including the impressive panorama painting of the Điện Biên Phủ Campaign, preparations are being expedited. In addition to promoting the upcoming major holiday, the museum has arranged detailed duty rosters, assigned specific tasks, and mobilized maximum staff to serve visitors. To better accommodate tourists, the museum will open in the evenings on April 30, May 1, and May 7. Strict security measures are also in place, including daytime and nighttime guards, ticket control, fire safety readiness, and environmental cleanliness to ensure a safe and pleasant experience.

Beyond historical sites, many tourism service providers and accommodations are also bustling with preparations for the peak season. At Kê Nênh Ecolodge in Kê Nênh hamlet, Thanh Minh commune - a popular destination recently known for its local specialty cuisine (sturgeon, salmon, free-range chicken), cloud-hunting cafes, and sunset-view accommodations - bookings have surged. Trần Thị Huế, owner of Kê Nênh Ecolodge, shared: “During holiday seasons, visitor numbers always spike. Our seven accommodation rooms have been fully booked since last week. To better serve our guests, we’ve added three more staff members, stocked fresh food from our farm, and thoroughly cleaned the facility. Learning from previous holiday experiences, we have prepared even more meticulously to offer the best experience for visitors.”

Thanks to thorough and coordinated preparations, Điện Biên tourism is demonstrating its readiness and heartfelt hospitality. These efforts not only aim to meet the immediate needs of tourists during the peak holiday season but also contribute to long-term benefits for the province’s tourism sector. Ensuring security, maintaining a clean environment, and offering professional services will leave a strong and positive impression on visitors.

When tourists feel comfortable, safe, and well-served, they not only enjoy a meaningful trip but also tend to share positive feedback, becoming "ambassadors" who spread the beautiful image of Điện Biên to friends, family, and the broader community. These careful preparations also highlight the organizational capability and professionalism of Điện Biên tourism, gradually building its brand as a safe, friendly, and attractive destination on the tourism map of Vietnam.
